How to Assess Your MMA Skills at Home

You cannot improve what you do not measure. Fighters at every level have blind spots โ€” the striker who cannot sprawl, the wrestler with no jab, the black belt whose cardio collapses in round three. A monthly self-assessment surfaces these gaps before a sparring partner does.

Three categories, one honest rating each

  • Striking โ€” jab, cross, kicks, defence, footwork, clinch
  • Grappling โ€” takedowns, top control, guard, escapes, submissions
  • Physical โ€” conditioning, strength, flexibility, recovery

The scale

Rate each skill 1โ€“5. Anchor the numbers: 1 = never tried, 3 = works on cooperative partners, 5 = works in live sparring against equal-level opponents.

Why radar charts work

A number in a spreadsheet is easy to ignore. A radar chart with one caved-in point is not. The visual forces you to plan the next training block around your weakest category, not your favourite one.

Do it now

Fightform runs the whole assessment in your browser โ€” no signup, no data sent anywhere. Ten minutes and you will have a chart you can screenshot and revisit next month.
